Adult Religious Education
Pat Cannariato, Director of Adult Religious Education
Adult Sunday School is on Sundays at 9:30 am. Topics are usually short courses of three to ten weeks in length on various topics and based on Scripture.
Other adult education events have included a six-week Thursday Lenten series with soup suppers and classes and a "spiritual adventure" pilgrimage to a spiritual place of interest.
Several type of educational opportunities are offered each year. Some are one-day workshops; others are weekend conferences, and still others are courses, a series of one-hour discussions/teachings over several weeks.
We are always eager for volunteers who feel called to adult teaching. Training and guidance for teachers are available.
Several adult classes in the fundamentals are repeated at least once a year. Confirmation preparation is offered every two years.
Newcomers to St. John’s are encouraged to participate in the Welcome Class, a six-week class for newcomers and inquirers, presented three or four times a year. The class helps to encourage and incorporate new members through exploration of life at St. John’s Parish, the history and beliefs of the Episcopal Church and the Christian life.
