Music

Musical offerings at St. John’s are eclectic and are drawn from ancient liturgical traditions as well as from contemporary praise music.  The 8:00 service is more contemplative, with traditional hymns sung to the accompaniment of pipe organ or piano.  Our later family-oriented service contains a mix of hymns, accompanied by the organ; and contemporary worship songs, accompanied by guitar, piano, keyboard, bass and drums.  Our choir sings a variety of music from every era and in several languages.  They sing old favorites, new compositions and even spirituals.  Once a month, our teens lead the praise music during communion.  Anthems each Sunday are offered by the choir, worship team, ensembles, Sunday school children or soloists.  At St. John’s, we believe that musical worship is not something to be watched by an audience, but is rather an experience that leads us into the very presence of God.
