Newcomers
We welcome you to St. John’s Church! Thank you for visiting our website and we hope to meet you soon in person at our church.
Location and Parking: St. John's is temporarily located at the Barbara Chilton Middle School, 4501 Bob Doyle Drive, Roseville, in the WestPark community, while working drawings and construction are underway to build God’s vision of our future church, which will also be located in the WestPark community. There is plenty of parking in front of and on the right side of the middle school campus. Please view the animated tour of our future church on this website.
Dress: Dress ranges from ties to jeans. Please wear what is comfortable for you. You’ll fit right in.
Child Care: We have child care available for babies and toddlers up to age 3. We also have Sunday School available for pre-school through 5th grade children during the 10:30 am service. Our greeters will show you where to take your children when you arrive. Teachers escort the children to join their parents later during the service in the church. We take the safety of your children seriously while we strive for your children to have a fun and meaningful Sunday School experience using age-appropriate materials.
Youth: We provide a Junior Youth Group for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. We also have a very active teenage Youth Group, age 14-18 years, who have had life-changing experiences through their work with the homeless and on local mission trips.
Worship Services: On Sundays, we have a traditional 8 am worship service, followed by a family-friendly 10:30 am service with both contemporary and traditional music provided by our talented musicians. It does not matter where you are in life—whether things are going well for you or if you are struggling with something. We are a Biblically-centered church and we believe we have much to offer you spiritually. We believe God’s grace will touch you in amazing ways. We are also a liturgical church. If you have not attended liturgical services before, just relax and listen. To help you better understand an Episcopal liturgical service, please see a description at this link: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/visitors_17059_ENG_HTM.htm. You’ll come to understand that the Episcopal church is a Protestant church that combines the richness of Catholic liturgical worship with a Protestant emphasis on Holy Scripture. Our friendly greeters will provide you with a church bulletin that will guide you through the service. Our ushers are available to help you find a comfortable seat and will give you a Welcome Folder during the service.
We also encourage you to sign our Guest Book so you can receive several important invitations. After the service, please join us for coffee, snacks, and conversation with our friendly church members who would like to get to know you better. You will be invited to attend the Welcome Dessert hosted by our Rector (Chief Pastor) and his wife. You will also receive our monthly church newsletter which will keep you up to date on church activities.
Our Vision and Ministries: Please see our video, “The Heart of St. John’s” on this website. The video provides our vision, local church ministries and outreach programs to include our sister churches in Kigezi Diocese, Uganda. Another significant ministry is the St. John’s School, our accredited Pre-K through 8th grade school. You will find more information about our school at this link: http://www.sjsroseville.org/. We also have a wide range of adult programs throughout the year.
Welcome Class: We strongly encourage you to attend our Welcome Class, a six-week class offered several times a year that introduces you to St. John’s, its history and vision; the Episcopal Church, its history and structure as a bridge church between Catholic and Protestant, including the best of both; and some of our beliefs. You will learn about the centrality of Jesus Christ to our beliefs and something about our worship, too. There are lots of opportunities for questions and no question is inappropriate!
We invite you to make St. John’s your church home. If you would like to become an official member, please talk to our Clergy. If you are not already baptized, our Clergy can explain the baptism process.
