Rise Against Hunger is an organization and movement with a goal to end world hunger by the year 2030.  While they are not a faith-based organization, they actively seek to engage people of all faiths in their mission to end world hunger in our lifetime.

Rise Against Hunger tackles this goal one "Meal packing session" at a time.  The goal of each 2-hour session is to package a minimum of 10,000 meals with the low cost of .29 per meal.  Each package will feed 6 people (or 6 meals).  Each package contains a vitamin pack, soy, vegetables, and rice.

Rise Against Hunger is growing a global movement to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives and responding to emergencies.  St. John's has hosted a number of meal packing events where we have packaged thousands of nutritious meals for distribution to people facing hunger around the globe!  In fact, we were able to see the power of this ministry when we visited our sisters and brothers in Haiti, and saw the packaged meals being used to provide a hot meal to the school children.  For many, it might be the only meal they would have for the day.

Check back for the next scheduled packing day.  We will need 50-60 volunteers.  Children 5 years or older can join us; what a fabulous teaching event for children, experiencing the joy of giving to others!
