Ushers

Ushers greet people at the door, pass out church bulletins, and take up the collection during the service. This important ministry is also a gentle way to begin ministering at St. John's and to get to know more of the parishioners. Ushers offer hospitality and oversee the orderly gathering for worship. Outreach is part of the Usher's ministry since many times we are the first members of St. John's that newcomers meet. Ushers greet newcomers and parishioners, assist newcomers and visitors, evangelize inquirers in a quiet way by providing information, service and warm friendliness, pray for the congregation, present welcome packets to newcomers, arrange for presentation of the Elements, count attendance, assist communicants at the altar rail, assist the celebrant as directed, maintain a comfortable environment, and clean up around the seating after each service.
