The Windows Of St. Johns
Church art has always been a way to “tell the wondrous story,” to
declare the glories of God and His mighty acts both past and present.
With the 1977 construction of the church building of St. John’s, a
decision was made to encourage the people of the congregation to tell
their stories of their experiences with God. Overwhelmingly they did
so, choosing symbols and scriptures that were personally meaningful and
yet also witnessed to the whole Body of Christ. In some instances,
parishioners not only designed the work of art but also made it. The
individuality of style and theme gives the church a look quite
different in character from a sanctuary that is all of one design. But
because it is a work of the people, the whole building becomes a parish
offering to God.
... And they came, every one whose heart stirred him, and every one whose spirit moved him; and brought the Lord's offering to be used for the tent of the meeting and for all its service ...
and He filled them with the Spirit of God, with ability, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship. - Exodus 35
