Book Study
Sundays at 2:00 PM
On Sundays @ 2pm we are gathering via Zoom to discuss Kathleen Norris's book,
A Whole Life in Twelve Movies: A Cinematic Journey to a Deeper Spirituality.
In this book we are invited to discuss acclaimed movies that can help us better understand our lives--from before birth to death and beyond. Featuring 12 films, including 2001: A Space Odyssey, Malcolm X, and Babette's Feast, we will journey through the human life cycle and explore themes of existence, goodness, belonging, vocation, identity, success, generosity, dealing with conflict, and what it means to be human.
Each week we will gather to discuss the film featured that week. Although it is hoped that participants will be able to view the film prior to the discussion, it is not necessary.
Fr. Cliff will be showing the film on Friday nights (when schedule permits) at 6:30 pm. Admission is free. Popcorn, snacks, and soda provided. All are welcome (including friends, neighbors, and family).
Youth Lock-In

The St. John's Youth Group will hold their annual lock-in beginning Friday night and through the night.
Racial Reconciliation Training
Saturday, September 6th
St. John’s, Roseville, will host a one-day racial reconciliation training workshop on Saturday, September 6th, 9:15 am – 4:30 pm, titled, “I Will, With God’s Help: Journey Toward Racial Healing and Justice,” via Zoom. We invite you to register for this workshop which is rooted in our baptismal identity and the promises we make in baptism. It focuses on how we can more fully live into our promise to be loving toward our neighbors, to address racism in our communities, and build the Beloved Community. During the workshop we follow the path of the Becoming Beloved Community labyrinth. All are welcome to attend this training which will help you grow as reconcilers, healers, and justice bearers, to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving God and your neighbor.
Registration Deadline is August 29th.
Original Al's Fundraiser

Join the St. John's crowd for lunch and / or dinner at Original Al's Restaurant and Pizzeria. Tell the server you are from St. John's, and 20% of your check will be donated to us. The food is great and the fellowship is lots of fun! Order for pick-up or delivery if you prefer.

Easter Egg Hunt
April 19, 2025, 11:00 am
Each year on Holy Saturday, the Saturday before Easter Sunday, we invite children of all ages from our surrounding community
to come meet the Easter Bunny, play games, enjoy a wonderful buffet lunch, and help us find thousands of colored eggs stuffed with candy that suddenly appear in the field behind the church. A fun-filled family event that celebrates the joy and promise of new life.
Family Camp
July 27-August 2, 2025
Since 1978, the purpose of St. John's Family Camp has been to strengthen the friendships of our church community, surrounded by the beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Family Camp is held along the Bear River, at the Donner Mine, in the area of Emigrant Gap. Campers can come for any amount of time; for one day, several days, or the whole week.
Blessing of the Animals
Sunday, October 5, 2025
On the first Sunday of October (the feast of St. Francis) all are invited to bring their beloved animal companions (or pictures of your companions if they want to sleep in) to our services (held outdoors) for a special blessing. Cats, Dogs, Hamsters, Rabbits, Gerbils, Spiders, Snakes, Ponies, Chickens, Roosters, all of God’s beloved creatures are welcomed and honored.
Trunk or Treat
Thursday, October 30, 2025
6:00pm-8:00pm
Each year a day or two before Halloween, St. John’s provides a fun and safe place for families to come and “Trick or Treat.” We bring our cars to the parking lot, put on our costumes, and open our decorated trunks that are filled with all kinds of safe pre-packaged candy. We also throw in a bounce house and other games. We'll have a pet costume contest: Cutest, Scariest, Most Creative. Come join us for a “Boo-tiful” evening as we enjoy the very creative ways in which people choose to celebrate Halloween.
