Music Ministry

The purpose of St. John's music ministry is to provide traditional hymns, more contemporary Christian songs and other inspirational music which help the congregation celebrate, praise, and worship God.

The Praise Music Team Ministry assists in drawing the congregation at the 11 am Sunday service into the transforming presence of Jesus Christ through contemporary Christian music and worship. We deploy four different teams each month. each consisting of five vocalists and 4 or 5 instrumentalists (acoustic, electric and bass guitars; keyboard and drums), making a joyful noise to the Lord. We choose music consistent with the liturgical readings, the church seasons and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

We rehearse regularly at 6:30pm on Thursdays to spend 45-60 minutes preparing for each Sunday. Anyone is invited to join us at rehearsals or after Sunday services to mutually explore opportunities to participate.

Music at the 8:00 AM service is more traditional with hymns from the Episcopal Hymnal, preludes, offertories, and postludes played by our organist Todd Troutman and communion or offertory music played in a gospel style on piano by Donna Reynolds. Once a month, Joan Hall plays the harp during the 8:00 AM service.
